We’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Bamford Watch Department, the world’s leading luxury watch personalization company, to create new limited-edition MW60 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones made in black Saffiano leather and Bamford’s signature aqua blue shade.

BWD is the first company to customize iconic steel sport watches from leading luxury watch makers, giving its customers watches as unique and individual as they are. The watches are available with a wide range of personalized elements including a unique formula of Military Grade Titanium Coating (MGTC), Graphite Particle Coating (GPC) and bespoke dial color options.

In advance of the launch, we had the chance to speak with BWD’s founder George Bamford about his business, the upcoming collaboration, and what it’s like creating products that cater to the world’s creatives.

Tell us about your company, in your own words.

“My company started fourteen years ago around the personalization of watches. I did one for me, and I got multiple orders for that watch that I had on my wrist, and that’s how my business started; by happenstance.”

What was the biggest misconception you had about this business going in?

“I think in every business you have roller coasters; you have real ups and you have real downs. I didn’t go into this and go, ‘I’m going to make a business in watches.’ I went into it because I enjoyed what we were doing. I didn’t go into it saying, ‘Hey, I’m going to make money out of this.’ It was more like, ‘What can I do, how can I help clients out?'”

What drew you to a collaboration with Master & Dynamic?

“I love Master & Dynamic; I think the headphones are some of the best on the market, from design to engineering. They’re beautifully made, beautifully engineered. It’s funny the way you always get served a curveball in life; Jonathan [Levine, CEO and founder of Master & Dynamic] and I met, and right away it was just like, ‘Let’s chat, let’s see what we can do together.’ I am super excited about this collaboration; I just think this is just going to be something really good, and I can’t wait to show off the product.”

Is this your first audio-related project?

“Yes. And hopefully not the last!”

How important is sound and music to you?

“I walk a lot in my life. Having perfect sound and having music just kind of gives you that break from reality.”

What do you love best about working on a product that caters to creatives?

“It’s this thing of not having boundaries. It’s like, ‘What can we do, how can we do it?’ There are no limits.”

What’s the biggest challenge in doing what you do?

“Supply and demand. Supply and demand is always a problem in every business. Also, keeping it always exciting. You’ve got to push the boundaries; you’ve got to excite people.”

What’s your favorite watch you’ve made?

“A black and aqua blue, because that’s my signature color. I love black and aqua blue. It’s a watch that I really love; I wear it most days.”
